Hearing aid – cleaning of tubes It is important that you take good care of your device. You do this by cleaning it daily. You may have various types of devices. For example, you may have a solution where the speaker is moulded in a hard plug which sits in the ear. You just wipe this off every day using a dry cloth or a piece of paper towel. Like this. And then there is also the small filter which needs to be replaced. The device itself, regardless of the brand, can be wiped using a cloth or you can even use a small brush if there is some earwax or grime. You can also have a solution where the plug sits on a thick plastic hose. Again, you can wipe this using a cloth or a piece of paper towel on a daily basis. The plug may be soft or it may be hard. It may have a small ventilation channel which ensures that there is air for the ear. You clean this using a tool which you can get from the company. Alternatively, you can use a piece of fishing line or one of the “Christmas trees” which you use to clean your teeth. Run the cleaner or tool through the air channel, so that no earwax is stuck. It is a good idea to wash your plug regularly. Remove the tube, and soak it in soapy water or rinse it under a lukewarm tap. It is very important that there is no moisture left in the plug before putting it on the device again. Tap it lightly and let it dry over night. And then just put the plug on again. Like this. We have made some brochures that go with the type of plug you have received. You will receive these with your device. The last possibility is that you have a device with a thin hallow tube. This can also be cleaned. Remove the small rubber tip, and then the wire itself can be screwed off. Then you take your fishing line and run it through to remove any earwax if it is stuck. Over time, the tube will become yellow and hard and then it should be replaced. You have received an ordering slip from your unit which will help you to order new ones. Screw the tube onto the device again. Like this. Take good care of your devices.
